Nature Spirits and Humans Relationships in Western World by MJ Croteau-Meurois

Once Upon the Old Western World

Not too long ago, in the Old Western World, a world so different from ours, existed such a deep relationship between Nature Spirits and Humans, that their true stories turned into legends amid the traumatic events of the Atlantic Fall. Ever since, there has been a mass oblivious Oversight of this past existence.

Our beloved Nature Spirits—composed of Gnomes, Ondines, Elves, and Salamanders—stepped out in the Invisible realm of our Earth Planet while Humans entered into the chaotic suffering cycle of the Visible realm that we are still experiencing today.

Despite the separation of closing the Portals, Celts and Vikings remained faithful to their close friends, knowing that Nature Spirits master the Elements (Earth, Water, Air, and Fire) thereby keeping our beautiful Planet alive.

Celtic Hidden Heritage – AVALON and Sacred Sites

Kingdoms of the Elves and Fairies are often located in the forests of course but can also be in the enchanted and mysterious islands.

The Isle of Man, dedicated to the Sea God Manannàn Mac Lir, is known to be the most popular resort for the Elementals, the Devas (fairies), and the Elves.

The Ile-De-Sein (Enez-Sun), off the Pointe du Raz in French Brittany, was once home to a group of druid priestesses called Gallizenae during the Gallic time. These nine women, like the Fairies in Avalon, were known to possess powers to foresee the future, to calm the winds, and heal the sick.

Avalon, known as the Island of Paradise, is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean and is where the Ancient Celts located the Kingdom of the Fairies and the Dead World. According to the ancient Celts, Avalon—meaning island of the apples—served both as a kingdom of the Fairies and home of the Dead. Avalon’s lush scenery grew effortlessly, and it is said that humans could easily live to be 100 years old there.

Ancient Irish manuscripts refer to Avalon as the supernatural realm of everlasting youth, beauty, health, abundance, and happiness, which is how it got it’s named of Tir na nÒg “Land of Youth.”

Tormented by various invasions and internal conflicts, the Celts finally had to hide their precious spiritual connection with Mother Nature during the rigid Rome occupation that reshaped Western Europe two thousand years ago.

Both Celts and Vikings understood the unbroken seal of their loving relationship with the Nature Spirits and the promise that “One day…the people of your humanity will tell each other what will appear to be a legend. This legend speaks of a time where men and women of Earth were so blind that they wouldn’t see what they couldn’t touch, and they could only touch what they were capable of thinking in their head.”[1]

Instead of hiding, the Vikings adapted to the change on their own terms, facing the intruders with a twist of fierceness, free will, and empowerment. Their legacy can be openly found in Iceland, fascinatingly wild and geologically diverse.

Iceland – Land of the Vikings, the Elves, and the Trolls.

In Iceland, it is said that the Voettir (spirits) are widespread, appearing in elven or other supernatural forms so frequently that humans could not ignore their existence. According to a study conducted by Professor Erlendur Haraldsson, 5% of Icelanders have seen Elves, and another 55% believe that the existence of such beings is likely possible.

The acceptance of Elves is not an isolated phenomenon that can be reduced to childish belief. Haraldsson’s study, and numerous testimonials, suggest that Icelanders respect Elves as they go about their daily lives. For example, many country roads take abrupt and seemingly unnecessary curves and detours—often, this is because civil engineers chose caution and avoided moving or destroying a particular rock known to be a refuge to a Troll.

Icelanders commonly consult an expert before building in the countryside, to ensure that the “hidden people” will not be inconvenienced. There are many Alfastadir or "Elven places" across Iceland. Even the road that goes between Reykjavik and Kópavogur shows an unusual shape as it carefully bypasses some Alfastadir that existed before the urban expansion between the cities.

In Elven Places in Reykjavik, (Geography and Cultures, #55, 2005) Sara Muller shares more on the impact Alfastadir hold for humanity:

In Reykjavik, during 1979, as part of highway improvements, it was necessary to move a stone known to be a home for Elves. During an attempt to move the stone, some machinery slipped, severing the water supply to a fish farm, and causing the death of 70,000 trout. Many Icelanders interpreted this incident as the Elves’ revenge for the human’s attempt to move the Elf stone, and many workers resigned afterward or refused to work near the site. No further attempt was made to move the stone; today, the highway curves around it.

Another example of Alfastadir can be found in Kopavogur, a suburb of Reykjavik. In this suburb, there is a street called Alfholsvegur “the street of the elven mound.” Between an elementary school and a house rests a mound considered to be inhabited by the Elves. At one point, city council revoked permission to individuals to build their home on the mound plot, fearing repercussions from the Elves. Today the street addresses jump from number #100 to #104, leaving #102 to the Elves.

Ami Björnsson’s directory of supernatural creatures, called the Voettata, asserts that over five hundred Elves, Trolls, and other spirits live in Iceland!

The Elves, also known as “Alfar,” are the most familiar. Feminine, aerial, and vaporous creatures, they intervene mostly in the field of physical and mental human health. Elves live in caves, hills, and isolated rocks. The memory of these highly respected places is transmitted from generation to generation.

Trolls, likely the most widespread of the hidden people, present absurd appearances and are typically maligned to humans. Found alone or in small groups, they hate being disturbed, and are always ready to retaliate against those humans who might disturb them. Like Elves, Trolls command respect, albeit a respect borne from fear. Trolls live everywhere in nature, often in places well-frequented by humans. Trolls exhibit a singular peculiarity: they commit their maligned actions at night, especially during the very long nights of the Icelandic winter. However, if ever they are delayed and surprised by the rising sun, they will be forever turned into stone!

The Aerial-Ether Connection

In Elves, Gnomes, Fairies, and Spirits of Nature, the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul defines the Aerial-Ether connection where Nature Spirits live:

It is commonly thought that all fairies, gnomes, elves, and similar spirits of nature, exist only in ethereal matter, but this is not so. They also exist in bodies of gaseous and liquid substances. The mistake comes from the fact that the basis of all that we can see objectively is their ethereal structure. These busy little lives frequently protect their dense physical activities by means of mirage and cast a veil over their objective manifestation. When the ethereal vision is present, we see them, because the mirage as we understand it, is only a veil thrown on the tangible.

The Aerial-Ether is well explained in my book The Portal of the Elves, where I wrote on the Light of the Elven World. Excerpt of my book:

You may wonder of what exactly our universe is made. Some of you might say that it is made of Ether without knowing what that means. Ether you see, is like an amniotic liquid in which we secretly bathe within the Dense Matter of your World. Ether is kind of like a mixture of light, gas, and a quadruple substance. In order for you to understand how it works in you and on you, you should perceive the essence of Ether, its architecture.

Know that the first is the Aerial Ether or the Ether of the Breath. By definition, this is the subtlest of the four Ethers. It is the domain of the Elven excellence. It acts like a highly permeable component of human and animal thought, on which is easily imprinted their collective thought-forms as well as the atmospheres, the states of being of the ones who are living in the terrestrial density. Hence, the Elven reactivity facing the egregores (collective group mind) created by mankind, according to the geographical areas in which they live.

The aerial Ether to which I belonged can communicate most with the World of human thoughts because it allows itself to be penetrated by them. The egregores attach themselves there, wherever they are—we can find all kinds of different memories.

Our beloved Nature Spirits are part of the Great Awakening as we are developing more heart-centered thoughts. Our creativity is united to their world and the future of our Earth planet. Time to reconnect with them. The Elven World is certainly a great way to start.
